Lake Norman Real Estate: Master Bedroom Makeovers

Making over your master bedroom to sell your home can have a dramatic effect on the sale. Of the rooms most important to potential buyers, the master bedroom ranks in the top three: kitchens, bathrooms, and master bedrooms. So of course you want to make every effort to maximize the potential of yours. When it comes to quick and easy master bedroom makeovers, here are some tips you’ll find not only helpful, but they won’t break the bank either!

Paint the Room a Neutral Color

Let your buyers see the natural beauty of the room by choosing a color scheme that shows off the room’s best features. Choosing from beiges, grays, blues, and soft greens are great for this. And don’t forget to use an eggshell finish to capture as much of the natural light as possible, especially when the natural light comes with a lake view like this one!

    Stage the Room

Your warm and welcome master bedroom might be exactly what you want at the end of a long hard day, but that lived-in look isn’t what potential buyers are looking for. They want a room that feels spacious, calm, tidy, and elegant. Staging the master bedroom is all about creating those feelings. The décor, color and light all play a part.

    Minimize the Clutter

The best (and cheapest) way to makeover your master when selling your home is to remove all of the furniture except for the bed, two nightstands, a dresser, and a full-length mirror. If your master is exceptionally large, you may want to add one or two chairs to create a sitting area as well. There should be nothing but these pieces of furniture and nothing on the surface of this furniture, including televisions, photographs or other personal items.

     Dress the Room

Take the time to dress the room with coordinating bedding including a bed skirt (if the box spring shows) and coordinating comforters and sheets. Again choose a neutral color that coordinates with the paint color you chose. If you don’t have a headboard, consider investing in an expensive one to help make the bed the focal point of the room. Add lamps to the sides of the bed and one or two pieces of art on the wall. You want your room to look put together.

    Clean the Room

Surprisingly, many homeowners forget the most important thing to remember when selling a home. Keep it clean! Once you have invested so much time in making over the master bedroom, remember to keep it clean and smelling fresh at all times. Be sure to clean the windows, light fixtures, and decorative items you have in the room as well.

Once your master bedroom makeover is complete, your potential buyers will no doubt be wowed by your efforts and the sale of your home will be just around the corner!
